Today, we have both data and the infrastructure needed to do complex processing. Despite this, only 3% of companies' data ends up when and where they need it. It’s the last mile problem.
In the majority of cases, the architecture is too rigid and doesn’t allow for any innovation - everything takes a lot of time and is centralized with the IT department. In other cases, it’s pure chaos. Every team is doing their own thing, using different tools and pipes. There’s no security, no governance, but the main thing that’s lacking is any form of collaboration.
That certainly doesn’t sound like “the new data stack” to us.
How did we end up here and where do we go next?
